LTE equipment being installed in Apple Stores, iPhone with LTE radio supposedly being tested
Posted on August 16, 2011 | View CommentsThis probably doesn’t come as a surprise for me, including myself, but from recent news we’ve heard (aka a post on Engadget), some LTE equipment is being installed at Apple Stores, by AT&T. This comes after yesterday’s BGR find — where they found a property list file that has to do with LTE devices on iOS 5. The equipment at the AT&T store supports the 700MHz and AWS bands, bothof which are planning to be used by AT&T — if they get T-Mobile. Engadget was also told that the Apple store(s) in question are also trying to increase the number of floor salesman by 30%, for the apparent rush the everyone... -
Apple suit against Samsung in Germany wins out in favor of Apple, Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales halted in EU
Posted on August 10, 2011 | View CommentsThe war against the companies rage on, and in this week’s episode, we have Apple and Samsung and Germany. The country has decided in a hearing that, due to the design of the Tab 10.1, which is eerily similar to the iPad, all sales in the European Union will be halted for the tablet, except for the Netherlands. Samsung naturally responded to the hearing favoring against it (clearly), and will fight back at the ruling. This comes in light of Apple suing Samsung across the world for theft of intellectual property, in this case, the design of the Korean company’s 10.1 inch tablet. Apple hopes to block the sales of the tablet... -
Facebook iPad app found hidden inside iPhone app, available to jailbreakers
Posted on July 26, 2011 | View CommentsThe community at Facebook didn’t seem to think that having a Facebook application made just for the iPad was necessary, or so we thought. Apparently, they have gone back on their word that the iPad was not a mobile device suited for a mobile Facebook application, and actually not only developed an iPad application, but released it unknowingly in an update somewhat recently (like two days ago). According to Techcrunch’s MG Siegler, “All of this is possible apparently thanks to a seemingly tiny update Facebook pushed yesterday to their iPhone app. Version 3.4.4 seemed like a small version that restored the “Send” button for comments and chat among a few other little... -
Small number of Verizon iPad 2s recalled due to 3G issues
Posted on June 12, 2011 | View CommentsThe last thing any company wants is a recall — and Apple certainly isn’t that company. In fact, in recent memory, I can’t think of a time Apple had to recall something. Sadly, those days are somewhat over. Due to an issue the second generation iPad 2′s are experiencing, a small number of them have been recalled. The company told Reuters “Duplicate MEID codes were flashed onto an extremely small number of iPad units for the Verizon 3G network”. The Mobile Equipment Identifier allows a device to connect to the internet over a network. These numbers, self contained to each device (one code per tablet, no duplicates allowed) are sent to... -

Editorial” The HTC Flyer: Just a giant smartphone?
Posted on May 25, 2011 | View CommentsUpon the release of the iPad, both the first and second iterations, many websites and people themselves were calling the device a giant iPod Touch. Those people had legitimate reasoning: It ran a very similar operating system to the iPhone and iPod Touch, and really didn’t have a lot more functionality. But one thing it did have was a higher resolution display and a much more complex and intense SDK, the latter which really made use of the screen real-estate the iPad had (and of course, still has). Go into the App Store, and it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find applications for the iPad that its smartphone counterpart doesn’t have, such as a Photoshop extension... -
Apple posts new iPad 2 advertisement, confirms the future
Posted on May 3, 2011 | View CommentsWhat a fantastic discovery! I was watching the new iPad 2 advertisment entitled “If You Asked” and at the end, they say “If you ask us, we’d say it’s just getting started”. If you ask me, that is just the confirmation we needed to either confirm the existence of the next iPad, or a major iOS refinement, both possibly coming this summer. Video at the link below! iOS still leads for developer attention
Posted on April 26, 2011 | View CommentsAccording to a recent study by Appcelerator, iOS for iPhone and iPad are leading for interest regarding application development, with Android close behind iPad and Honeycomb not too far behind that. This helps us know what we can expect in the future, suchas the fact Windows Phone 7 does not have as much to call for, and neither does Blackberry (never mind webOS or Meego). However, as we all know too well, things can change. We can only wait and see. ~ Jake Root Apple Correspondent -
Like Smart Cover? You’ll love this…
Posted on April 25, 2011 | View CommentsAs with most iPad 2 purchasers, looks are important. You love to show off that sexy aluminum housing and that Apple logo. But here’s the issue: That’s most people, not everyone. Some people, like myself, really like the idea behind the Smart Cover but want a back cover as well. Good news! M.I.C. Gadget has made the perfect cover for you! While keeping the top open, and room on the sides for the hinges of the Smart Cover, they have invented such case. Comes in white, black, and clear if you are so interested like myself. My personal favorite is the black one, matches any white iPad (yes black and... -
Verizon preffered over AT&T for 3G on iPad 2
Posted on April 12, 2011 | View CommentsVerizon, the United States’ largest cellular provider has now been found to also be the largest preffered network for iPad 2 3G users. Of course, if we look at the history of both companies, AT&T does have a worse go-around than Verizon, specifically applying to the coverage (hell of a lot better) and customer service (likely better, according to many reports). On the flip-side though, AT&T does have considerably faster data speeds, so if AT&T has respectable coverage in your area it would make sense. ~ Jake Root Apple Correspondent Via: Macrumors
