Motorola XOOM WiFi receives another update.
Posted on September 29, 2011 | View CommentsJust a few days after the last update (HTK55D), the WiFi only edition of the Motorola XOOM is receiving another update, this time to HTK75D. This update brings us the all new Android Market, scaled to better fit the tablet form factor. We are not sure what else it brings, but everything is running smoothly. To manually update go to Settings> About tablet> System updates. More shots of the new market after the break. -
Motorola XOOM Receives Mysterious OTA Update.
Posted on September 20, 2011 | View CommentsI was just about to check some email on my XOOM when I get a nice little pop-up message, telling me that my device had an OTA update ready for it. Naturally I click download and what do you know, Android 3.2.1 was waiting to install to my XOOM. According to information on the “restart & install” screen, this version (HTK55D) brings “security fixes” and “enhancements” to the XOOM. I’m not sure what those “enhancements” are, but I will update this article if I find anything amazing. According to Android Police, this is update is a bit slow to roll out to users, so you might want to see if... -

iOS still leads for developer attention
Posted on April 26, 2011 | View CommentsAccording to a recent study by Appcelerator, iOS for iPhone and iPad are leading for interest regarding application development, with Android close behind iPad and Honeycomb not too far behind that. This helps us know what we can expect in the future, suchas the fact Windows Phone 7 does not have as much to call for, and neither does Blackberry (never mind webOS or Meego). However, as we all know too well, things can change. We can only wait and see. ~ Jake Root Apple Correspondent -

Motorola XOOM: WiFi Only Confirmed, March 27 at $599.
Posted on March 16, 2011 | View CommentsIts about time. After tracking rumors that changed every hour, for weeks on end. We decided to wait for some real information regarding the Motorola XOOM, and now we have it. Motorola is confirming the XOOM WiFi only version for a March 27 release. What’s nice is, we finally know the price of the 3G-less tablet, a nice $599. Its nice to see Motorla make this cut in price, this way it might stand a chance against iPad 2… Wait, that’s already out, and I already own one. I’m glad for you Moto, that you managed to get this out the door, but you should have released it five or... -
Editorial: iPad 2 VS XOOM.
Posted on March 4, 2011 | View CommentsIts that time of year. Apple releases a product and they call it magical or revolutionary. But how revolutionary is the iPad 2? And what does it have against something like, oh, the XOOM by Motorola? Now a lot of you are getting your angry commenters face on right now, ready to start a battle of iOS vs Android. A lot of you know how I feel about iOS, wether from a rant or from general commentary. This site for a while has been Android only, well this article is here to stand up for the core value of this site, the prime directive if you will. To strip the... -
Purchasing a XOOM? Here are some tips.
Posted on February 24, 2011 | View CommentsI know a few people have been heading out and getting that nice new XOOM. But if your waiting for pay day or still on the fence from all the rumors and uncertainty, then these facts should help. Verizon does NOT require a contract. You can choose to pay full retail ($800) and use month to month data. Best Buy is informing people that an activation is no longer required. It was rumored that contract or not you would have to pay for 1 month of data and an activation fee to use WiFi on the device. Best Buy will not however meet the price that Verizon is offering on... -
Verizon Launches XOOM Home Page. With a nice little note.
Posted on February 21, 2011 | View CommentsAs we get closer and closer to the end of February we keep expecting to see the Motorola XOOM come out. Well Verizon is confirming that February 24, 2011 will be the launch date of the XOOM. They are still failing to state if the tablet will be subsidized or not, but they are managing to state something else with their nice little web page. In the lower right of the webpage we see “Adobe Flash expected Spring 2011″. Wait, what? Thats right, the worlds first Honeycomb tablet, the iPad killer, will not be capable of displaying any flash content until a Tegra 2 version is released. Now I could... -
QUICK HIT: Best Buy’s XOOM Page Returns.
Posted on February 19, 2011 | View CommentsIt looks like Best Buy once again a put up the XOOM page. We first saw this page a few weeks ago, but it was pulled when the XOOM was pushed back to the 20th. The page has a video of Motorola’s 10.1 inch, Android 3.0 tablet in action. The page lacks a price (you can bet on $799 or a contract version at $599). The page does confirm, for the first time, that the XOOM will be available in all Best Buy stores. We will keep an eye on this through out the day and let you know if anything changes. Might as well get those credit cards ready....
