  • Looks like Verizon is gearing up for the Droid Bionic. As Big Red has done with every other major iteration of their line of Droid branded phones, Verizon has launched a “teaser” page for the Droid Bionic. We say finally because it has been over a year since we heard the name Bionic, for a while, a few of us even thought that the phone had been scrapped. The Bionic was supposed to be a near clone of the Atrix 4G on AT&T. Several months ago we heard that the design had been scrapped, in favor a much improved design. We the first glimpse of what the possible design might...

  • That’s right folks, according to the editor and chief over at Mobile-Review (by the name Eldar Murtazin), Apple’s smartphone released back in 2009 may not support this years mobile OS update. His tweet read: “Just one comment. Apple iPhone 3Gs wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. iPhone 4 will”. It is a strange tweet, in that it has two meanings: either one, he meant what we think he did, or two that he was referring to the plural form of the iPhone 3G, which would also make sense. The hardware inside the 3GS, especially for its time, is and was absolutely fantastic. As a user, I can say I am very...

  • I know a few people have been heading out and getting that nice new XOOM. But if your waiting for pay day or still on the fence from all the rumors and uncertainty, then these facts should help. Verizon does NOT require a contract. You can choose to pay full retail ($800) and use month to month data. Best Buy is informing people that an activation is no longer required. It was rumored that contract or not you would have to pay for 1 month of data and an activation fee to use WiFi on the device. Best Buy will not however meet the price that Verizon is offering on...

  • Thank you for listening Verizon. Thank you for not making us get iPad 2. Thats right, Verizon has just announced the pricing and availability for the Motorola XOOM. We will see the Android 3.0, LTE capable tablet on February 24 with some decent pricing. We are looking at $599 on a two year contract or $799 at full retail, no contract. Were not sure if 1 month of data is still required to unlock WiFi on the $799 model but you can assume that it is. I can say that I will be standing proudly in line on Thursday handing over my cash. You? Press release after the break.

  • As we get closer and closer to the end of February we keep expecting to see the Motorola XOOM come out. Well Verizon is confirming that February 24, 2011 will be the launch date of the XOOM. They are still failing to state if the tablet will be subsidized or not, but they are managing to state something else with their nice little web page. In the lower right of the webpage we see “Adobe Flash expected Spring 2011″. Wait, what? Thats right, the worlds first Honeycomb tablet, the iPad killer, will not be capable of displaying any flash content until a Tegra 2 version is released. Now I could...

  • It looks like Best Buy once again a put up the XOOM page. We first saw this page a few weeks ago, but it was pulled when the XOOM was pushed back to the 20th. The page has a video of Motorola’s 10.1 inch, Android 3.0 tablet in action. The page lacks a price (you can bet on $799 or a contract version at $599). The page does confirm, for the first time, that the XOOM will be available in all Best Buy stores. We will keep an eye on this through out the day and let you know if anything changes. Might as well get those credit cards ready....

  • We still have no word on that subsidization we talked about yesterday. However, it looks like we are set for the February 24th release date. We just found so images of the dummy units for the tablet arriving in Verizon stores. We expect Verizon to announce all of the details either tomorrow or Monday. Start the clock, only four days to go. Another image after the break. Getting one? Update: It also appears that the real units are in store and in stock. Here we go.

  • One thing that has been keeping us weary of the Motorola XOOM is the $800 price point. Now, it looks like Verizon and Motorola have hear out pleas and have decided to come to a lower price point. How? A simple two year contract, allowing Verizon to subsidize the Android 3.0 tablet. Now none of this is confirmed. In fact, the only information we have is coming from rumors the Droid Life is reporting on. They have a good track record and great sources, so we are inclined to believe them. But more then track record. Subsidizing this tablet just makes since. Very few people will want to pay $800...
