Motorola XOOM Receives Mysterious OTA Update.
Posted on September 20, 2011 | View CommentsI was just about to check some email on my XOOM when I get a nice little pop-up message, telling me that my device had an OTA update ready for it. Naturally I click download and what do you know, Android 3.2.1 was waiting to install to my XOOM. According to information on the “restart & install” screen, this version (HTK55D) brings “security fixes” and “enhancements” to the XOOM. I’m not sure what those “enhancements” are, but I will update this article if I find anything amazing. According to Android Police, this is update is a bit slow to roll out to users, so you might want to see if... -
ITC finds HTC guilty on two of Apple’s patents, HTC prepares to fight back
Posted on July 15, 2011 | View CommentsSo far, Apple has been having a hell of a time in the courthouse, and I might say, this is a good thing for them. However, this is bad for HTC, clearly. The ITC has ruled that 2 of the 10 patents Apple accused HTC of infringing on in Apple’s favor; in other words, HTC was found guilty. If everything plays well for Apple, we can expect particular devices manufactured by the Taiwanese company to be banned from reaching US shores. Good for Apple favoritism, bad for those who love HTC. HTC general counsel Grace Lei responded back quickly with the following statement: “HTC will vigorously fight these two remaining patents through an appeal... -
Rumor Time: The Tablet to Rule, Kill, and Destroy all others.
Posted on July 13, 2011 | View CommentsTo quote CNET’s Molly Wood on the Nexus Prime “this takes the mobile arms race and turns it into global thermonuclear warfare, in a good way.” Though she was talking about the rumored Nexus Prime, I feel she would say the same about this totally amazing rumor, that we really hope turns to fact soon. Motorola could have an Android Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) tablet in the works. Now that’s exciting in and of it’s self, but lets look a bit deeper. This tablet could be packing a retina display murdering resolution of 2048×1536 (yes it 4:3, but this would be insane). Plus it apparently will be powered by... -
Small number of Verizon iPad 2s recalled due to 3G issues
Posted on June 12, 2011 | View CommentsThe last thing any company wants is a recall — and Apple certainly isn’t that company. In fact, in recent memory, I can’t think of a time Apple had to recall something. Sadly, those days are somewhat over. Due to an issue the second generation iPad 2′s are experiencing, a small number of them have been recalled. The company told Reuters “Duplicate MEID codes were flashed onto an extremely small number of iPad units for the Verizon 3G network”. The Mobile Equipment Identifier allows a device to connect to the internet over a network. These numbers, self contained to each device (one code per tablet, no duplicates allowed) are sent to... -

Editorial” The HTC Flyer: Just a giant smartphone?
Posted on May 25, 2011 | View CommentsUpon the release of the iPad, both the first and second iterations, many websites and people themselves were calling the device a giant iPod Touch. Those people had legitimate reasoning: It ran a very similar operating system to the iPhone and iPod Touch, and really didn’t have a lot more functionality. But one thing it did have was a higher resolution display and a much more complex and intense SDK, the latter which really made use of the screen real-estate the iPad had (and of course, still has). Go into the App Store, and it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find applications for the iPad that its smartphone counterpart doesn’t have, such as a Photoshop extension... -
QUICK HIT: Gingerbread Update to Droid X, Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, and Droid Pro Coming Soon
Posted on May 23, 2011 | View CommentsThe long awaited Gingerbread update will soon be coming to four Droid models on Verizon, a Motorola Employee said today. The update’s will begin to roll out to Droid X users starting by the “end of the second quarter”, and the Pro, Droid 2, and Droid 2 Global by the “end of the third quarter”. If you are rockin one of these phones, you will most definitely be enjoying fresh baked Gingerbread some day very soon! Now, if only HTC would roll out Gingerbread updates to their devices… Nicolas Wiggins Android Correspondent Source: Droid-Life -
Official: Droid X2 online tomorrow, in stores May 26 at $199.
Posted on May 18, 2011 | View CommentsLooks like the rumor we reported on last week was right. The second iteration of the ever popular Droid 2 will be launching tomorrow (May 19) for online orders, and in store on May 26 for $199 on a two year contract. The phone is powered by a dual core Tegra 2 processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 8GB of onboard storage, and a 8GB SD card. The X2 also as a 4.3 Inch qHD screen, an 8MP camera, and supports HDMI mirroring. A note, the phone will be running on Android 2.2, but will receive an update to 2.3 soon after launch. Now I know this is not the... -
Droid X2 Arriving May 26.
Posted on May 12, 2011 | View CommentsThe DROID X2 was actually supposed to land today, however we thought it might get pushed back like the Droid Charge, this was the case. According to Verizon, the Droid X2 will be launching May 26th with direct fulfillment orders starting on May 19th. This is not the most exciting phone in Verizon’s summer barrage, but it is certainly no slouch. The X2 is powered by a 1GHz Dual Core Tegra 2 processor, similar to the Motorola XOOM. We actually heard that rumor a few months ago, and I’m glad to see it fulfilled. Also in this “hummer” is a 8MP rear camera, 720p video capture, 1080p out, 8GB of... -
Apple posts new iPad 2 advertisement, confirms the future
Posted on May 3, 2011 | View CommentsWhat a fantastic discovery! I was watching the new iPad 2 advertisment entitled “If You Asked” and at the end, they say “If you ask us, we’d say it’s just getting started”. If you ask me, that is just the confirmation we needed to either confirm the existence of the next iPad, or a major iOS refinement, both possibly coming this summer. Video at the link below!
