  • iMessage is a clear competitor to Blackberry’s famous BBM service they launched a while back. And while this service is pretty awesome for Blackberry owners, the number of these owners is steadily decreasing, due mostly in part to the increasingly better features found on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7. At WWDC this last Monday, Scott Forstall and Greg Joswiak showed off Apple’s new competitor to the service: iMessage. iMessage is more than just a messaging service between iPhones; it’s a way to keep in touch with anybody using a device with iOS 5 built-on. The most interesting part of the service is probably the speed. You’ll know things like when a person begins...

  • According to a recent study by Appcelerator, iOS for iPhone and iPad are leading for interest regarding application development, with Android close behind iPad and Honeycomb not too far behind that. This helps us know what we can expect in the future, suchas the fact Windows Phone 7 does not have as much to call for, and neither does Blackberry (never mind webOS or Meego). However, as we all know too well, things can change. We can only wait and see. ~ Jake Root Apple Correspondent

  • Call me surprised. Actually don’t, you’d be a fool. A survey by ChangeWave Research has revealed that AT&T drops the most calls of any mobile network, at 4.6 calls per 100 (4.6%). Verizon unsurprisingly takes the lead in this survey with only 1.4 dropped calls per 100 (1.4%). T-Mobile is second at 2.3% and Sprint is third at 2.7%. AT&T reached out and said that a survey by GWS not so very long ago revealed a 98.6% success rate, or exactly the same as Verizon’s. Hopefully, AT&T’s upcoming LTE and current HSPA+ network’s will help that number drop more. Best of luck to you, because you will need it. ~ Jake Root Yes,...

  • Despite the fact I follow technology news quite vigorously, I did not see this coming at all. AT&T has announced today that they will be purchasing the US’s secondary GSM carrier from Deutsche-Telekom (based in Europe). The companies say it will take about 12 months for the entire thing to go through, if it even does at all. There are quite the number of regulatory hurdles they have to go over. When it’s all said and done though, goodbye T-Mobile USA, it will just be AT&T. Only one GSM carrier for the entire country. Win-win situation? Over-all, it will cost $39 billion (cash and stock). Because the networks are both...

  • RIM today has begun pushing out an update for the BackBerry Torch. It looks like they were listening to all those complaints about the speed of the device and they are promising that this update will fix those issues. This revision to BlackBerry OS 6 include speed increases in page loading, and improved panning in the browser, improved responsiveness after unlocking the device, faster application launching, exiting and switching, faster rendering and smoother transitions on the home screen, faster rendering of thumbnails in the picture application, and faster and smoother scrolling in the message list and when reading email — and, higher audio quality. You can expect the update (v6.0.0.695)...

  • It is a very proud day for Android lovers like me. A new study conducted by The Nielsen Company shows that within the past 6 months there have been more buyers of Android than any other OS in America. This is even more special for me because even in the months of June and July, the peak of iPhone 4 sales, there were still more Android buyers-or should i say Android lovers. As the graph shows, Android is on a steady rise, whereas iOS is on a downward roller coaster and RIM is just plane falling off of the map. But look only 7 months ago and it was a...

  • Today the CEO of RIM announced the new BlackBerry Playbook. The tablet will run off of an OS created by the recently acquired QNX. RIM also stated the PlayBook’s ability to handle Flash content via Flash 10.1, as well as Adobe AIR apps. The new slate — which Lazaridis described as “the first professional tablet” — will have a 7-inch, 1024 x 600, capacitive multitouch display, a Cortex A9-based, dual-core 1GHz CPU (the company calls it the “fastest tablet ever”), 1GB of RAM, and a 3 megapixel front-facing camera along with a 5 megapixel rear lens (and yes, there will be video conferencing). • Another Storm? Why?

Surprise, surprise!! Not to say I told you so (but I did) Blackberry has done it again. They have made (most likely) a new successor to their storm device. Creatively titled “Storm 3″. RIM is really wearing me out. All these new devices flooding the blackberry market in such close time. Bluntly, this is a storm with a new paint scheme. However, some are saying that a new O.S. is coming along with the storm. Which, coming from Blackberry is not much. Also, the device has the ability to make a mobile hot spot like the HTC Evo. This phone is on a crash course with failure. Unless you want...

  • AT&T Lineup Leaked – Galaxy Tab, Torch’s, WP7 – Merry Christmas

If you hate AT&T you might just hate this post. According to an Engadget tipster, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be sold at AT&T. Wait don’t worry, their are two pieces of good news. First, the Galaxy Tab on AT&T will ship prior to December (sweet spot for holiday shopping, feel free to buy me one) along with several other unnamed Android devices. Secondly if you think you won’t buy one of these because it is on AT&T do not worry. According to screen captures Verizon is truing employees on how to use and market the Tab and we should hopefully see an announcement or teaser from big red soon....
