QUICK HIT: A quick run down of OS X Lion.

It is that time of year again, the World Wide Developers Conference is on in Southern California and Apple has a lot of new things to show to the world.

One of the many new things at WWDC 2011 is OS X Lion. Yes, it has been a few years since Mac OS X was upgraded, and this is quite the upgrade. 250+ new features as Apple puts it. New multi-touch gestures, full screen apps like iPhoto, iMovie, Safari, and more, as well as the new iOS-like applications launcher. And, Apple has added their new Resume feature which allows you to pick up exactly where you left off, as well as a new autosave feature that will save your documents, automatically. Also, they are adding AirDrop, a peer-to-peer file sharing system that allows you to send documents from your computer to another.

All of the OS X Lion glory will be available in July. One strange thing is, though, there is no hard copy version of the OS. Instead of buying the install disk, you have to download it from the Mac App Store, 4GB, and it will cost you $29.99. This will install on all of your App Store (iTunes) authorized computers. So 5 Mac’s.

So there you have it, the newest version of the most advanced desktop OS. Be sure to download OS X Lion from the Mac App Store in July! Also stay tuned for out in depth break down of the new features.
