  • In a totally non-Apple fashion, the multi-national company has come forward and clean today and announced three major products: iOS 5, a new version of the company’s revolutionary mobile OS, iCloud, an apparent cloud based sharing tool to either help or replace MobileMe, and the final version or a preview of their next major operating system, Mac OS X Lion. This way of announcing products is very strange for Apple, so come back on the sixth of June for more surprises, we hope!

  • It seems that things are leaking more and more. Now we have what is potentially an unmarked HTC device that Google Android dev’s are using to test the up and coming release of Ice Cream Sandwich. Aside from the fact that this looks like an iPod Touch, the most noticeable feature is the lack of physical (capacitive) buttons. This lack of buttons first appeared in Honeycomb (Android 3.x) and now is moving to phones. It will be interesting to see how Google implements this feature, especially considering that a control bar (like on Honeycomb) could take up a lot of room on a smaller screened phone. • Well, just a day or so after HTC said that the bootloaders on their Sensation and Evo 3D handsets would be locked, CEO Peter Chou announced that they will never do it again. As you can see, on HTC’s Facebook page, a quote by Chou points it out very clearly: “There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience” This is great news for those who love to tinker with their devices. HTC also...

  • Upon the release of the iPad,  both the first and second iterations, many websites and people themselves were calling the device a giant iPod Touch. Those people had legitimate reasoning: It ran a very similar operating system to the iPhone and iPod Touch, and really didn’t have a lot more functionality. But one thing it did have was a higher resolution display and a much more complex and intense SDK, the latter which really made use of the screen real-estate the iPad had (and of course, still has). Go into the App Store, and it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find applications for the iPad that its smartphone counterpart doesn’t have, such as a Photoshop extension...

  • That’s right folks, according to the editor and chief over at Mobile-Review (by the name Eldar Murtazin), Apple’s smartphone released back in 2009 may not support this years mobile OS update. His tweet read: “Just one comment. Apple iPhone 3Gs wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. iPhone 4 will”. It is a strange tweet, in that it has two meanings: either one, he meant what we think he did, or two that he was referring to the plural form of the iPhone 3G, which would also make sense. The hardware inside the 3GS, especially for its time, is and was absolutely fantastic. As a user, I can say I am very...

  • The DROID X2 was actually supposed to land today, however we thought it might get pushed back like the Droid Charge, this was the case. According to Verizon, the Droid X2 will be launching May 26th with direct fulfillment orders starting on May 19th. This is not the most exciting phone in Verizon’s summer barrage, but it is certainly no slouch. The X2 is powered by a 1GHz Dual Core Tegra 2 processor, similar to the Motorola XOOM. We actually heard that rumor a few months ago, and I’m glad to see it fulfilled. Also in this “hummer” is a 8MP rear camera, 720p video capture, 1080p out, 8GB of...
