QUICK HIT: HTC Thunderbolt Unboxing and Preview. [Video]
Posted on January 31, 2011 | View CommentsSome people have some really good friends, in some high up positions. Like Michael, he managed to get a preview or test HTC Thunderbolt 4G unit. So, what do you do when you get something no one else has? Put a video up on YouTube, thats what. We are always happy to see more shots of this beautiful device, it helps us stay calm as we wait for the release. So, if your not so patiently waiting for this phone, the video below should get you through the next few days. Now we should note, this device is running an older version or older build of HTC Sense 2.0 for... -
Motorola slamming Apple in Super Bowl XOOM ad preview. [Video]
Posted on January 31, 2011 | View CommentsMotorola certainly is done backing down and done letting Apple walk all over the market. They have not been shy this year or last year in calling Apple out. They are now planning to do it on one of the largest stages of them all. Thats right, Super Bowl. In 1984 Apple aired their game changing ad at the Super Bowl, and now Motorola will challenge it in 2011. We now have some real teams playing in this tablet game. Check the very shocking, true, and bold ad preview after the break. -
Android Honeycomb ported to Nook. [Video]
Posted on January 30, 2011 | View CommentsW’ve been watching this story for a bit, but it looks like the hacking community overat XDA-developers just couldn’t wait for February 2 to see more Honeycomb. IT started as simply getting 3.0 on to the device, and now its working, with hardware acceleration. Many of the core features are either not working or very buggy, but this is a preview SDK, we can’t expect to see the true power of Android 3.0 until the Google announcement. Below is a video showing the UI in action on a Nook Color. Apparently, you don’t need a dual core processor to run this after all. Video after the break. -
(Almost) Official, Optimus 3D set for Sprint February 7th Announcement
Posted on January 29, 2011 | View CommentsYes, I have been covering this story extensively in the past week, and it looks like the 3D phone will in fact be announced on February 7th, 2011 for Sprint, just a week before the international announcement of the LG Optimus 3D. According to Phone Arena, a tipster has squealed to them that a phone with a 3D screen and specs close to those of the LG Revolution will be revealed by Sprint PCS on the 7th. Their article specifically said: Since the announcement, there has been some rumors of what the device will be, but today we got word from an inside source saying that it will be for... -
Canalys Stats: Apple See’s 241 Percent Growth in ‘PC’ Shipments. Thanks to iPad.
Posted on January 26, 2011 | View CommentsCanalys is a well known and reputable stat keeper in the the tech industry. Now they are sending a conterversial message. Canalys is claiming classifying devices like iPad’s and Galaxy Tab’s in the ‘PC’ category. This is most likely why we now see Apple holding 10.8 percent of the world wide computer market, at least in terms of shipments in Q4 2010. Q4 2009 put Apple at 3.8 percent of the global share, that growth puts Apple third world wide. However, if you take tablets out of the equation, Apple barely breaks fifth place (according to IDC and Gartner). We hesitate to call a tablet — even as powerful as... -
UPDATE: More Info Regarding Sprint 02/07/10
Posted on January 25, 2011 | View CommentsSo, my last article sounded pretty cool. If fit into the idea of magic and impossible, but it seems there is a more likely result of the press conference. What ELSE could fall into the category laid out by Sprint? 3D. Make that glasses-less 3D. Yes, the worlds first glasses-less smartphone…running Android…will most likely be announced next month. It may be two devices, as both HTC and LG have expressed interest, but I think the absolute most probable company to dish it out will be LG. Why do I think this? LG has already told us it will happen: That right there is the Optimus 3D, which is supposed to... -
Call Me Crazy…But…
Posted on January 24, 2011 | View CommentsSo, recently we have all been puzzled by Sprint and what they will announce on February 7th, and there really hasn’t been any leaks or anything on what it may be. Unless, you look deep into what the message is. “Industry first”, the “impossible is possible”, and the fact that David Blaine will be a part of it all points to something, so insane, that nobody would think of. What would be absolutely this crazy? Well, I joked about it in the first post about this event, just throwing it out there and I did not think it at all when it was wrote, but I looked into it and... -
Update: XOOM Pricing back to $799?
Posted on January 23, 2011 | View CommentsThis is worse then iPhone news, it just keeps coming. The team over a Droid-Life have some friends at BestBuy who were nice enough to run a price verification on the XOOM, what did they uncover? It looks like the price is back to $799 off contract (or on, no one knows except Moto and Verizon). This throws the tablet back into the “not going to purchase” field. I think, because we have two images from BB systems statig prices and the systems are different, we could have a split data base. Basically one price is right and has not made it to the register or store systems, but is... -
Epic Win: XOOM vs iPad… What Challenge?
Posted on January 23, 2011 | View CommentsDroid-Life took the time to make a nice little chart that clears up the difference between XOOM on iPad. What differnece? The iPad gets its butt kicked and the XOOM walks off with out a scratch (gotta love Corning Gorilla Glass). Here’s the chart. Feel free to leave your hate mail in the comments.
